Responding to COVID-19

To the Novelly community,

I hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and well during this challenging moment in history. COVID-19 has affected schools all around the world. We are grateful to students, their parents and their teachers, who are finding creative ways to keep students learning in this time of social distancing.

The Novelly team has been in communication with you all to figure out how we can best support students, parents and teachers. First, we delayed the release of our climate change curriculum and launched a campaign on this pandemic. We’ve seen issues like racism, xenophobia, mental health, poverty and structural inequalities brought to the surface and exacerbated by COVID-19. With this curriculum, we remember that in times of fear and panic, people are not the virus.

Second, we are including a COVID-19 discussion in our pilot training for students leading Novelly workshops in their schools. Like all of you, we believe that students deserve a voice in the civic conversation on how to respond to the pandemic. We are carving out that space for students to process what is happening to them and their communities as well as be part of the solution.

Empathy and civics matter now more than ever.

Be well,

Anna Gabriella Casalme, Founder & CEO
